Preview: Flash Game Development by Example + Free Giveaway!
I’ve been so lucky to get a free copy of Emanuele Feronato‘s book, Flash Game Development by Example!
Please read full review here: http://gamedev.rasmuswriedtlarsen.com/2011/05/31/review-flash-game-development-by-example/
Emanuele states that you don’t need to know anything about AS3 or game development to pick up this book. So I would say it’s mostly for newcomers to the flash game scene. But I’m counting on getting some good pointers from this book anyway!
This book is very much learning-by-doing! You dive right in, with “No boring theory, dull moments or silly examples. Build fun games right from the first chapter.”
It takes you thought building 10 fairly simple games, step by step. These are the games you learn from: Concentration, Minesweeper, Connect 4, Snake, Tetris, Astro-PANIC!, Bejeweled, Puzzle Bobble, BallBalance, Sokoban (bonus chapter available online)
